Tarun Kanti Mishra

Prior to his appointment as the State Chief Information Commissioner, Shri Tarun Kanti Mishra was the Chief Secretary, Government of Odisha. He worked as Secretary in over 10 Departments including Home, Revenue, Planning & Coordination, Excise, Energy, Commerce & Transport, Women & Child Development, Information & Public Relations, School & Mass Education and Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department. Among his other postings are Commissioner, Central Division, Collector, Sundergarh and Deputy Chief Administrator, Dandakaranya Project, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Shri Mishra is credited for facilitating several innovations and reforms during his stints in Energy Department, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, Home Department and Revenue & Disaster Management Department. He is a recipient of leadership award for excellence in Government service, instituted by Times Group.

Shri Mishra is a writer of distinction. So far, he has published 15 anthologies of short-stories and a novel. His first anthology was published when he was an eighteen-year old undergraduate student. For his contribution to Oriya literature he received several awards including Sahitya Academy Award. His writings have been translated into several languages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati and Burmese.
